First Pass Yield (FPY), also known as Throughput Yield, is a critical key performance indicator (KPI) within the manufacturing industry. This metric measures the effectiveness of a manufacturing process in producing defect-free output on the first run, without the need for any rework or repair. It's a prime indicator of the quality of a manufacturing process and its efficiency.

To calculate the First Pass Yield, you can use the following formula:
First Pass Yield = (Number of Defect-Free Units Produced on First Pass / Total Number of Units Produced) * 100
In this formula:
- Number of Defect-Free Units Produced on First Pass refers to the number of units that pass through the manufacturing process without the need for any rework or repair.
- Total Number of Units Produced is the total number of units that come out of the manufacturing process, regardless of their quality status.
